TABLE OF CONTENTS

It may be that a desired function does not yet exist in SOLIDWORKS, and perhaps not even a workaround.

In order to be able to use such a function in the future, it is possible to submit an enhancement request to 3DS.

In order to ensure that you end up with the best possible solution, the person who wants the function should always create the ER so that the information can be passed on to SOLIDWORKS as unfiltered as possible.

This function is also available to users who do not have active maintenance.

1: Steps for an enhancement request

  • Use the following link to access the correct community and log in with your 3DS account:

http://www.solidworks.com/enhancements

  • The first step should be to check whether there are already contributions on this topic in the pool of existing improvement suggestions (Detailed Search in Point 3).

For your information, most entries have been created in English.

  • If the idea has never been submitted on this page before, clicking on the + button will take you to the input form for the ER.

  • Fill out the form, add attachments, and submit.

2: Voting for an ER

  • Liken
  • Comment

The more likes and comments an ER receives, the more likely it is to come to the attention of SOLIDWORKS R&D and be implemented.

If you add a comment to an existing ER and activate this sorting,

the entry will be moved back to the top of the list.

3: Detailed search

You can search for existing ERs as well as those that have already been completed.

There are various ways to narrow down your search in the community:

  • In the search menu (orange arrow), you can narrow down the area in which you want to search. The option “Search on this page” should be selected here.

  • You can use the tags (blue box on the left) to refine your search and find any existing suggestions more accurately.
